The Third Trade

So after all that jazz- we have exciting news to report...the third trade will be taking place this week! Mr. Rountree’s bass guitar will be traded for a 20 GB ipod, with speakers and a car stereo dock and charger, graciously donated by the University of Alabama’s very own Ryan Spain. Along with the trade, Ryan wrote a poem about Invisible Children, reflecting how much this cause has effected his life. So- we leave you with his beautiful writing and a few words from his original post:

Uganda, My Love

here i've seen huddled children
in leaking basements
with tattered blankets
hiding in the damp black
safe underground
away from their mothers
with whom they are doomed
to be stolen and to die.

in the arid land
not knowing a time
without the memory of war -
there haunt
great writhing sphinxes
whose rhythmic puzzles
leech life from children
riddled with disease
or fearing for their lives
some of the luckiest
quietly dead in the street.

hold still
quiet
angels of the cellars
i will help you

“I am very excited about this project, and I hope this offer helps. I can't wait to see how far this advances! I just want to thank everyone for their interest and participation in this project. I admire all of you.”
